Frequently Asked Questions

Mike Lite

What battery is my Mike Lite compatible with?

Can I use a 9.0 Volt battery?

I'm not sure how to attach my Mike Lite to my microphone/helmet.

I never see any light coming from my Mike Lite's infrared LED(s)!?!?!?!

What battery is my Mike Lite compatible with?

All Mike Lites, with the exception of the ML-14, are compatible only with a 3.0 volt battery/battery-pack. The ML-2-7 battery holder holds 2 AA batteries, which provides 3.0 volts of power. The ML-14 is compatible with power sources from 3.0 to 4.5 volts; this is why the ML-14 comes with both a 2 AA battery holder and a 3 AA battery holder. The ML-14 is the ONLY Mike Lite compatible with the 3 AA battery holder.

Can I use a 9.0 Volt battery?

NO!!! DO NOT use a 9.0 Volt battery with ANY Mike Lites.

I'm not sure how to attach my Mike Lite to my microphone/helmet.

If you cannot discern a way to attach your Mike Lite to your helmet using the MK-1, then you can send your helmet, Mike Lite and MK-1 to SSIInc. and Charles Seitz Sr. himself will design a way to attach your Mike Lite to your helmet at no cost other than shipping to our location.

I never see any light coming from my Mike Lite's infrared LED(s)!?!?!?!

Infrared light cannot be seen by the un-aided eye. NEVER put an infrared light up to your eye to see if it is working! If you do not have an NVG on hand, SSIInc. can provide a test strip that can detect infrared light; contact us for pricing.

I never see any light coming from my Fingerlight's infrared LED!?!?!?!

What battery is my Fingerlight compatible with?

Fingerlights are shipped with 2ea. FL5-B2 A76 Alkaline batteries. These are very common batteries that can be purchased locally (i.e. Walmart, Radio Shack, and similar stores). The FL5-B1 DL1/3N is a 3V Lithium battery that can be purchased locally where FL5-B2 batteries are found. Both the FL5-B1 and the FL5-B2 can be purchsaed individually or in bulk from SSIInc.

What battery is my FLAA compatible with?

A Fingerlight with an FLAA is compatible only with a 3.0 volt battery/battery-pack. The ML-2-7 battery holder holds 2ea. AA batteries, which provides 3.0 volts of power. A fingerlight with an FLAA is NOT COMPATIBLE with the 3ea. AA battery holder.

My Fingerlight keeps turning on by accident and drains the battery, what can I do?

The Fingerlight case is specifically designed for storing your Fingerlight to where it will not accidentally turn on. Immediately store your Fingerlight in its case, light side up, after removing from your finger. Contact us for pricing regarding a replacement case.

FOD Bag

Why do I need an FOD bag?

What color should I get?

Why do I need an FOD bag?

FOD Bags are grease proof, safety wire proof, etc. FOD Bags also have a velcro closing to prevent spilling and their colors can be easily identified at great distances.

What color should I get?

A contrasting color to the background of the area in which the FOD Bag will be used. Ex. if the area is predominantly green and yellow, then an orange FOD Bag would be the best choice.

TS-2

Does the TS-2 require calibration?

Does the TS-2 require batteries?

Why is the TS-2 far less expensive than the current test set, TS-3895A/UV?
Is the TS-2 authorized for use in my ALSE shop?

Does the TS-2 require calibration? No.

How durable is the TS-2? Drop tested to 50ft. Crushed tested to approximately 2000 lbs.

What checks will the TS-2 perform? All checks at the unit/user level.

Does the TS-2 require batteries? No. The TS-2 does not require an external or internal powersource to run the tester. The TS-2 lights are illuminated by the batteries in the NVG battery pack.

Why is the TS-2 far less expensive than the current test set, the TS-3895A/UV?
Although the TS-3895A/UV performs very well, it needs calibration and it tests more than what is needed at the unit/user level. The TS-3895A/UV has the excessive ability to perform tests that are unnecessary at the unit level, which drives the cost up. This also increases the size of the TS-3895A/UV, requires an external power source (i.e. 110 Volts), and it is the reason the TS-3985A/UV needs calibration.

Is the TS-2 authorized for use in my ALSE shop? Yes.

Can I use my light with Night Vision Goggles?

What is the SSIInc. return/exchange policy?

The SSIInc. Warranty and Return Policy can be found below.

Can I use my light with Night Vision Goggles?

Only LED(s) that are certified NVIS Green A or Filtered NVIS White, such as the ML-8 or ML-18, are compatible with Night Vision Goggles. Infrared lights are not compatible with NVGs; infrared lights are designed to provide supplemental light for NVGs and should be used with care. DO NOT shine an infrared light directly at someone wearing NVGs. Lights not meeting NVIS Green A or NVIS White are not suitable for NVG operations and should not be used.
